Electrocution Warning Issued for 13 Circulating Pump Brands
Product safety warning: 13 circulating pump brands may pose electrocution risk.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued an urgent product safety warning for 13 brands of circulating pumps used in heating systems across Ireland, citing a potential risk of electrocution to tradespeople working on these systems.
The warning, issued today, 24 October 2025, follows a recent CCPC notice regarding Tucson circulating pumps and comes after the commission received reports of other pumps that may have the same or similar electrical coupling defect.
The CCPC is taking early intervention action after identifying pumps with potentially faulty electrical couplings that could present a serious electrocution risk to plumbers, heating engineers and other tradespeople servicing home heating systems.
Affected Pumps
The warning covers 13 circulating pump brands and models: AquaPro (RS 25/6 EAA), Katsu Tools (Star 25/), Embrass Peerless (Eclipse CFA-25-50), THS Thermostyle (THS RS25/6 EAQ), Trident (STAR 25/6EA), Boiler M8 (Boiler M8 RS25/6 EAZ), Suntask (Star A PUM-STAR15/6A), BritTherm (P2 25/5), Archergas (Heating Standard 15-60/130), IBO (IBO NOVA 25-40 180 and Beta 2), Avansa (Avansa 32/6/180E), Lowara (Ecocirc and Ecocirc+), and Intertrade (6 metre head circulation pump Type R S25/6EAQ).
The CCPC has contacted all companies that produce these pumps to alert them to the reports. Under product safety law, any company that becomes aware of a potential safety risk with their product must take immediate action.
Advice for Tradespeople and Consumers
The CCPC is advising tradespeople to exercise caution when working on heating systems that use any of these circulating pumps. For homeowners and businesses with these pumps installed, the advice is clear: do nothing at this stage while investigations continue to establish whether the products meet product safety requirements.
This precautionary approach reflects the CCPC's commitment to preventing potential harm whilst allowing proper investigation of the reported issues. Given that many Cork homes rely on these types of pumps for central heating systems, the warning affects a significant number of properties across the county.
The CCPC's product safety experts investigate consumer complaints about unsafe products, inspect products for compliance with safety regulations, and work with manufacturers, importers, retailers, Customs and other EU product safety bodies to protect consumers.
As investigations remain ongoing, no further information can be provided at this time. The CCPC will update the public as more details become available about the affected pumps and any required remedial action.
