Elderly Couple Rescued from Arson Attack on Dublin Pike Home
Two men in their 30s arrested in Dublin and are being held at a Garda station in Cork City as investigation continues.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack that left an elderly couple's Cork home extensively damaged last month.
Gardaí attached to the Serious Crime Investigation Unit in Cork are investigating the incident of arson and criminal damage to a residential property in Dublin Pike, Ballincrokig, which occurred on 24th April 2025.
Shortly after 9 p.m. that evening, Gardaí and fire services responded to reports of a fire at the residence. Emergency services successfully rescued an elderly couple in their 80s from the burning house, which suffered extensive damage in the blaze.
As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives from Cork conducted an operation in the Dublin area on 6th May 2025, during which they searched two residential properties in Dublin.
Two men, both aged in their 30s, were arrested during the operation. They are currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Cork City.
The Gardaí have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
Authorities have not yet released information about potential motives behind the attack or whether the elderly victims were specifically targeted.
