Douglas Takes Top Spot as Ireland's Best-Behaved Uber Riders

Douglas crowned Ireland's most courteous Uber riders, with Cork's Cobh also making the top five in national rankings.

Douglas Takes Top Spot as Ireland's Best-Behaved Uber Riders

Cork can celebrate after Douglas claimed the national crown for Ireland's most courteous Uber riders, soaring from fifth place in 2024 to first place this year. Fellow Cork area Cobh also impressed, making its debut in the top ten at fourth place.

The annual rider ratings, released by Uber today as the taxi service prepares for huge festive demand, analysed millions of journeys across Ireland throughout 2025. Drivers rate passengers on a five-star scale, with the results revealing which communities consistently demonstrate the best taxi etiquette.

Douglas residents topped the national rankings, ahead of Blanchardstown in Dublin, which rose one place to second, and Castletroy in Limerick, which fell one place to third. The Cork representation continued with Cobh's strong showing as a new entry at fourth place.

Other areas making the top ten include Clontarf in Dublin (also a new entry at fifth), Sligo Town, Oranmore in Galway, Stoneybatter in Dublin, Rathmines in Dublin, and Dalkey in Dublin.

The findings come as Uber launches its Taxi Fixed Price product, offering upfront transparent pricing for the busy Christmas and New Year period when demand traditionally peaks.

Kieran Harte, General Manager for Uber Ireland, said:

"As people head out to celebrate over the busy festive season, taxi drivers across the nation will keep towns and cities moving safely. Taxi drivers are the heartbeat of Christmas travel, a little extra kindness, patience and respect for drivers goes a long way. We're proud to serve communities across Ireland, and we're asking everyone this year to spread the Christmas cheer and help make every trip a five-star one."

How Ratings Work

Every rider and driver can view their rating calculation through the Privacy Centre in the Uber app. Ratings represent an average of the last 500 trips, with both parties able to rate from one to five stars.

Drivers have identified the most common behaviours leading to lower ratings: rudeness or aggression, eating in the car (particularly anything with garlic sauce), treating rides like after-parties with loud phone music or smoking attempts, slamming doors, and not wearing seatbelts.
