Cork West Gardaí seize 'junior' supercar after driver caught exceeding speed limit by 82 km/h. Driver arrested and charged to court.

Cork West Road Policing Unit has arrested a motorist caught driving at dangerous speeds in a high-performance sports car on local roads.
Officers based in Crookstown intercepted the driver of a Lotus Emira who was exceeding the speed limit by a staggering 82 kilometres per hour, according to a statement released by the Gardaí today.
The vehicle, described as a supercar, was immediately seized by authorities following the traffic stop. The driver has been charged and is due to appear in court, though a specific court date has not yet been announced.

The Lotus Emira, known for its impressive performance capabilities, is a mid-engine sports car that can reach speeds of over 290 km/h. With a starting price of approximately €85,000, it represents one of the more accessible vehicles in the supercar category.
Gardaí regularly conduct speed enforcement operations throughout Ireland as part of ongoing efforts to reduce road fatalities and serious injuries caused by dangerous driving behaviours.
This incident comes amid increasing concerns about road safety in Ireland, with speeding remaining one of the primary factors in serious and fatal collisions nationwide.
Road safety experts continue to emphasise that speed limits exist to protect all road users and that high-performance vehicles require responsible handling, particularly on public roads.
