Cork's First Songwriting Festival Comes to Cobh This April

Cork's east coast is getting its first dedicated songwriting festival this month, with a one-day event at Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh on 11 April offering workshops, co-writing sessions, and live performances for adults of all experience levels.

The East Cork Songwriting Festival is organised by the East Cork Songwriting Group, a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community group, with support from Cork County Council and IMRO.

Three Irish songwriters will lead the day's workshops: Cormac O Caoimh will explore songwriting techniques and helping participants find their unique voice; Lynda Cullen will focus on overcoming writer's block with practical strategies to spark creativity; and Nicole Maguire will guide participants through collaborative songwriting in her session, Songs from the Inside Out.

As well as the workshops, participants will take part in co-writing sessions to create new songs in small groups before performing them on stage. The day closes with an intimate performance from all three mentors.

The festival is open to anyone aged 18 or over with an interest in songwriting, regardless of experience or instrument proficiency. Tickets are priced at €40 per person and are available at the East Cork Songwriting Festival website.
