Cork's Beach Lifeguards Finish Full-Time Duties For 2026 Season
Cork's beach lifeguards have finished full-time duty for the 2026 season but return for weekends on 5-6 and 12-13 September.
Cork County Council Beach Lifeguard Service has finished full-time lifeguard cover for the 2026 season, with reduced weekend cover continuing into September.
Full-time duties ended on 31 August 2026. Lifeguards will still be on duty for two further weekends, on 5 and 6 September and again on 12 and 13 September 2026.
In a statement, Cork County Council Beach Lifeguard Service said:
"We'd like to thank everyone for a great 2026 season! We really appreciate all your support and hope you've enjoyed the summer. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of the summer!"
Staying Safe At The Beach
With lifeguard cover reduced outside the remaining weekends, CSA is reminding beachgoers of some general safety basics:
- Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible, and between the flags where they're in place.
- Check tide times before heading out, as conditions can change quickly.
- Never swim alone, and keep a close eye on children at all times.
- If you get into difficulty, stay calm and float on your back to call for help.
- In an emergency, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
