Cork Youth Clubs to Celebrate Young People at National Youth Night Event
Cork youth clubs open doors on 21 November for first national Youth Night celebration, with over 30 free events showcasing activities across city and county.
Cork city and county will join a nationwide celebration of young people and youth services on Friday, 21 November, with over 30 events taking place across the region as part of the inaugural Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night 2025.
Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee has partnered with the Education and Training Boards, the National Youth Council of Ireland and the youth work sector to launch the new national celebration, which will see youth clubs, services and community groups host local gatherings to showcase the energy, creativity and achievements of young people alongside the vital work of youth workers and volunteers.
Cork venues will host a diverse range of activities throughout the evening, from music performances and art exhibitions to discos, storytelling, games nights and outdoor activities.
Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee TD said:
"Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night is about shining a light on the amazing contribution young people make to their communities, and the adults who support them every day. Hundreds of events are happening and I encourage young people, their families and communities to have a look at what is available and join in with some of the great events being run by youth services, showing what is available all year round."
Minister McEntee added:
"I hope that through Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night, thousands of young people will get to experience youth services in their area."
Foróige Knocknaheeny will host an evening showcasing skills, talents and abilities at the Link-Point Youth Building on Harbourview Road from 6pm to 8pm. In West Cork, YMCA Carbery will present a night of talent at their centre in Youghals, Clonakilty, running from 4pm to 7pm.
The Farranree Community Centre on Pophams Road will welcome visitors from 5pm to 7pm for games and cake decorating, while Foróige Charleville offers a game night at Rathgoggan Middle from 4pm to 8pm. Foróige Carrigaline invites people to drop in and play at the Carrigaline Lions Club Youth Centre on Church Road between 5pm and 7pm.
Other participating venues include CDYS centres in Fermoy and Mallow, Cobh Youth Services' Chill on the Hill facility at Kilgarvan, and numerous Scout groups across the county. Events range from cinema nights and bingo to talent shows, stargazing sessions and camping demonstrations.
Youth clubs in Blackpool, Glanmire, Mayfield, The Glen, Bishopstown, Tower, Crosshaven and many other locations across Cork will also open their doors to celebrate young people and demonstrate the year-round activities available to them.
The nationwide initiative aims to raise awareness of youth services and encourage more young people to engage with their local youth clubs and community groups throughout the year.
