Cork Traffic Update: Heavy Delays on Key Routes as Evening Rush Begins

Traffic is moving slowly on a number of major routes around Cork this evening, with several areas showing significant congestion according to live mapping data.

The N27 South City Link Road heading towards the Cork Airport Business Park is heavily congested, with long stretches of red indicating stop-and-go traffic. Motorists using this route should expect delays from the Kinsale Road roundabout through to the Airport junction.

On the N28 Carrigaline Road, traffic is also slow-moving, particularly around Broadale and Carrs Hill, where congestion is adding to journey times.

The South Ring Road (N40) is experiencing mixed conditions. While sections near Wilton are moving freely, delays are evident approaching the Jack Lynch Tunnel from both directions, with red and yellow indicators suggesting heavy evening volumes.

The N22 approaching Carrigrohane is another trouble spot, with slow-moving traffic reported into the city. Further east, the M8 approaching Tivoli and Glanmire shows queues building on the approach into Cork.

Within the city centre itself, delays are being reported on the quays and along the main routes into town, with congestion most pronounced around the N22 Western Road corridor and North Link Road.

Commuters are advised to allow extra time for their journeys this evening, particularly if travelling towards the southside or heading for Carrigaline, the airport, or the Jack Lynch Tunnel.
