Cork to Kinsale Greenway Moves Forward with Third Public Consultation
Cork to Kinsale Greenway consultation now open. Three public events in July. Have your say on the route connecting Cork City to Kinsale by 15th August.

Cork County Council has launched the third public consultation for the much-anticipated Cork to Kinsale Greenway, marking a significant step forward in connecting two of Cork's most popular destinations via a dedicated cycling and walking route.
The consultation focuses on the "Emerging Preferred Route Corridor" and invites feedback from the public on the proposed path that will link Cork City to the picturesque harbour town of Kinsale. The project, funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland's Greenway Programme, also aims to provide connections to future greenways planned for West Cork.
Following the completion of the second consultation in autumn 2024, which presented various route corridor options, the project team has now identified their preferred approach and wants to hear from the community before proceeding.
Three public information events will be held across the route, each running from 2:00pm until 8:00pm:
Riverstick Community Centre on Tuesday 8th July, Acton's Hotel in Kinsale on Tuesday 15th July, and Viaduct Restaurant & Bar on Old Bandon Road on Tuesday 22nd July.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley said:
"This is a significant project that aims to provide a sustainable, accessible, safe and attractive Greenway for locals and visitors to travel between two important destinations. Identifying the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor is a major milestone in the progression of the project. I encourage landowners within the corridor to participate in this public consultation, it is important to meet with the project team and express your views on the greenway."
The greenway promises to offer both recreational opportunities and practical transport links, potentially reducing car journeys between Cork and Kinsale while boosting tourism and local business along the route.
Members of the public can also submit feedback online through the project website at www.corkkinsalegreenway.ie. The consultation period remains open until 15th August 2025, giving ample opportunity for community input on this transformative infrastructure project.
The initiative represents part of a broader national strategy to develop sustainable transport networks and promote active travel throughout Ireland.
