Cork Set for Sunny Wednesday Before Thursday Brings Rain
Cork enjoys a dry, bright and sunny Wednesday with highs of 19°C, but rain spreads in on Thursday with cooler, wetter conditions for the rest of the week.
Cork is in for another bright and pleasant day on Wednesday, with sunshine and mild temperatures continuing across the city and county. The settled spell breaks down on Thursday, however, with outbreaks of rain spreading in from the south.
Wednesday 29 April will see plenty of sunshine across Cork, with highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in moderate easterly winds. It will feel a little fresher near southern coasts and around the harbour, but inland areas should enjoy comfortable spring conditions throughout the day.
With dry weather, good visibility, and warm sunshine on offer, it looks like a fine day to be outdoors. Met Éireann has also flagged a high pollen count for both Tuesday and Wednesday, which may be a factor for hay fever sufferers planning to make the most of the sunshine.
The change begins late on Wednesday night, when it will turn cloudier across the west and south. Outbreaks of rain are expected to spread across the south, with lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in moderate easterly winds.
Thursday 30 April brings a noticeably different feel. Outbreaks of rain will spread northeastwards across the country, turning heavy at times, with cooler conditions across the southwest. Highest temperatures in Cork will be in the 12 to 14 degree range, with moderate east to southeast winds easing lighter into the evening.
Wet roads, surface spray, and reduced visibility are likely during heavier bursts, so motorists should allow extra time. Rain will gradually ease and become patchier on Thursday night, with clear spells developing and lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.
Friday brings a mix of sunny spells and showers, with temperatures recovering to 14 to 18 degrees. The weekend turns cooler and more unsettled, with widespread showers on Saturday, some heavy at times, before a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells into Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
