After a wet and blustery Thursday, Cork is in for a welcome treat tomorrow, with a bright and dry Friday on the way. The good news is real, but it comes with a cold catch, so the coat stays on.

Friday, 6 March: A Sunny but Frosty Day

Met Éireann is forecasting a dry and sunny Friday for Cork, but the morning will be sharp. Overnight temperatures tonight are expected to fall to between -2°C and +2°C, with frost and icy patches developing on roads and paths in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.

Drivers should allow extra time on Friday morning and watch for icy stretches, particularly on untreated roads and footpaths.

Once the frost lifts, it will be a lovely early-spring day. Afternoon temperatures will recover to a pleasant 9 to 11 degrees in mostly light, occasionally moderate west or south-westerly breezes. Long sunny spells are expected throughout the day, making it well worth getting outside if you can.

Friday night will again be dry and clear, with temperatures dipping back down to between -2°C and +3°C. Atlantic coastal areas will stay slightly milder.

Saturday, 7 March: Mostly Dry with Sunny Spells

Saturday looks set to continue in a largely dry fashion, with sunny spells and afternoon highs of 8 to 12 degrees. Southerly winds will be light to moderate, though fresher along Atlantic-facing coasts.

There is some chance of thicker cloud building through the south and east during the day, with the possibility of a little light rain or drizzle at times. Saturday night will be mainly dry, though that low risk of light rain or drizzle in the south and east continues into the early hours.

Overnight temperatures on Saturday will fall to between 0°C and 4°C.

Sunday, 8 March: A Wetter Picture Emerging

Sunday is where the settled spell comes to an end. Met Éireann is forecasting cloudier conditions with outbreaks of rain developing during the day. Temperatures will be milder, reaching between 9 and 13 degrees, but south or south-easterly winds will pick up and conditions near exposed coasts could become quite blustery, with gusts potentially reaching 50 to 60 km/h in some areas.

Road spray, surface water, and reduced visibility are possible during the heavier spells, so take extra care if travelling.

Monday is expected to start cloudy with rain, though conditions should improve through the morning with some showers developing. Temperatures will be around 10 to 13 degrees.
