Cork Lions Club’s Annual Patricks Hill Ball Run Launched by Lord Mayor
12,000 multi-coloured balls will be released from a cage at the top of Patricks Hill on Sunday, March 16th at 2pm.
The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dan Boyle, has officially launched the much-anticipated annual Cork Lions Club Patricks Hill Ball Run at a special event in City Hall. Expressing his support, the Lord Mayor praised the Ball Run as a highlight of the Patricks Weekend Festival, bringing families together while raising funds for vital local causes.
The launch was attended by members of the Cork Lions Club and representatives from Cork City Missing Persons Search & Recovery, the primary beneficiary of this year’s event.
On Sunday, March 16th, at 2:00 pm, 12,000 multi-coloured balls will be released from a cage at the top of Patricks Hill, racing down in a spectacular display to support Cork City Missing Persons Search & Recovery and other local charities.
Cork Lions President, Ciaran O’Connor, highlighted the significance of the event, stating:
"This is our 9th Ball Run, and Cork Lions Club are delighted to use this year’s Patricks Hill Ball Run to support the Cork City Missing Persons Search & Recovery as well as local Cork charities. This is a great family-friendly event and is one of our main fundraisers – we greatly appreciate the support of the people of Cork!"
Each ball in the Ball Run is individually numbered and will be guided down the hill, with the first six balls to reach the bottom winning a prize. Balls can be purchased for €2 each either on the day or online at www.corklionsclub.ie.
In addition to the Ball Run, Cork Lions Club will also be collecting old glasses as part of their Recycle for Sight Campaign. This initiative repurposes old spectacles, cleaning and grading them before distributing them to eye clinics in developing countries. The public is encouraged to bring any unwanted glasses to Patricks Hill on the day.
With fun, excitement, and a meaningful cause at its heart, the Patricks Hill Ball Run 2025 promises to be a fantastic event for families across Cork.
