Cork City is set to honour one of Ireland's greatest guitar legends with the launch of 'Cork Rocks for Rory', a comprehensive citywide tribute beginning Saturday, 14th June.

The centrepiece of the tribute is 'Stompin Ground', a brand-new walking trail that will guide visitors through the historic landmarks that shaped the life and career of Rory Gallagher. The permanent trail offers fans and music enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the places that influenced the legendary musician's development.

Complementing the walking trail, several exhibitions will showcase previously unseen aspects of Gallagher's life and work. Cork City Hall will display an exhibition featuring never-before-seen photographs, whilst Cork Public Museum will host 'The Continental Op', documenting Rory's extensive travels and performances around the world.

The Rory Gallagher Music Library will present a special collection featuring the guitarist's personal writings alongside items from his private vinyl and book collections, offering insight into his literary and musical influences.

The tribute was launched outside The Everyman, with key figures from Cork's cultural institutions in attendance, including representatives from Cork City Council, Cork Public Museum, Cork City Library, and Strange Music.
