Cork County Council's annual Open Call Winter Exhibition opens next week at the LHQ Gallery, featuring 74 works from 68 Cork-based artists throughout November and December 2025.

The 2025 exhibition, titled 'Oh, the thinks you can think' after the 1975 Dr Seuss book, celebrates the ideas and imagination behind artistic creation. From rural landscapes to abstract pieces, the collection explores the diverse thoughts and concepts that inspire Cork's creative community.

The exhibition presents varied themes and perspectives. Bríd Moynihan's 'Memory' uses imagery of a partly demolished building to examine the deterioration of memory itself. Gerard Daly's 'There is Always One' questions whether we possess the strength to be the odd person out. Aoife Casey draws inspiration from W.B. Yeats' 'The Stolen Child', capturing the faery realm in photography. Self-taught artist Aoibheann Kennedy explores the intersectionality of her lived experiences as a woman, artist, musician and disabled person navigating daily life.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley, said:

"We are delighted to see such interesting work from a wide array of artists, makers, and other creatives being presented at the LHQ Gallery. This exhibition provides an opportunity for Cork based artists to present and sell their work. We encourage all to come and see the exhibition."
