Cork County Council Statement Following Fire in Midleton
Cork County Council is engaging with the HSE and will assess the site once it is safe to do so.

Cork County Fire Service was tasked to a fire at a commercial recycling facility at Knockgriffin, Midleton just after midnight today (Friday 18 April 2025).
Six appliances from Midleton and Cobh Fire Brigades attended the incident, four units from Midleton and two from Cobh.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 04:00am. There are no reported injuries.
As of 09.00am Cork County Fire Service remains on site, monitoring the scene.

Weather conditions will reduce the impacts of smoke in the vicinity with rainfall likely to continue throughout the day. The public is advised to stay away from the area and if there is any smoke in the vicinity of your home you should keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
Part of the Northern Relief Road is currently closed with diversions in place.
