Cork County Council Responds to Localised Flooding Across East Cork

Cork County Council crews have been responding to localised flooding across multiple locations in East Cork this morning, with road closures and pumping operations underway in affected areas.

The council confirmed this morning that crews are dealing with flooding incidents in Whitegate, Midleton and Youghal.

In Whitegate, minor street flooding occurred due to tide locking. Sandbags were deployed and the road was closed for a period for safety.

In Midleton, Bailick Road has flooded, while minor flooding at Baby's Walk required the activation of a pump. Dwyer's Road near the Bonnog estate entrance has also flooded due to tide locking and a possible combined sewer overflow.

In Youghal, minor tidal flooding has been reported.

Cork County Council has published further updates and safety advice on its website at corkcoco.ie, where residents can access information ahead of the Status Yellow rainfall warning affecting the county.

The flooding incidents come as Cork remains under a Status Yellow rainfall warning until 15:00 today.
