Cork County Council Launches Local Festival and Event Fund 2026
Cork County Council's Local Festival and Event Fund 2026 opens for applications tomorrow, with grants of up to €6,000 available.
Cork County Council has announced its enhanced Local Festival and Event Fund 2026, with applications opening tomorrow, Thursday 29th January.
The fund, supported by Fáilte Ireland, aims to strengthen communities, boost economic growth, and position Cork County as a leading year-round destination for visitors. The closing date for applications is Friday 27th February.
Two Funding Strands Available
Strand A targets small and medium festivals and events designed to strengthen local identity and attract domestic visitors. Grants of up to €6,000 are available for events within Cork County that project a minimum of 150 bed nights and have a total expenditure of at least €7,500.
Strand B supports large-scale festivals and events that deliver significant economic impact and elevate Cork County's profile nationally and internationally. Eligible events must project a minimum of 1,000 bed nights with expenditure of at least €20,000 and demonstrate a professionally structured, high-calibre programme.
Both strands will be assessed on programme quality, marketing and collaboration, delivery capacity, seasonality, visitor experience fit, and sustainability practices.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley, said:
"Festivals and events are a central part of Cork County's visitor economy and of what makes the county a strong and distinctive destination. They support local enterprise, sustain employment and generate economic activity that benefits towns and villages across the county."
She added that the Council is taking a strategic approach to supporting festivals and events that are well planned, professionally delivered, and provide clear value for communities and the wider economy.
