Cork County Council has unveiled an exciting new Cost Rental Scheme offering 20 high-quality family homes in Bandon at rents significantly below market rates. The scheme targets middle-income earners who find themselves caught between social housing thresholds and expensive private rental costs.

The development at Allmans View, Coolfadda, features newly built A-rated properties comprising 10 two-bedroom and 10 three-bedroom homes. Located within walking distance of Bandon town centre, these properties offer rents at least 25% below current private market rates in the area.

The scheme addresses a crucial gap in the housing market, providing secure, long-term rental options for people who don't qualify for social housing but struggle to afford private accommodation. Cost Rental tenancies offer greater security than traditional private rentals, with tenants entering arrangements directly with Cork County Council.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Joe Carroll said:

"Cork County Council is delighted to announce the launch of this Cost Rental Scheme in Bandon. The development at Allmans View offers high-quality homes for rent in an exclusive development within walking distance to the town centre. These Cost Rental homes are an important part of the Council's ambitious plans as set out under the Government's 'Housing for All' national housing plan."

Applications will be accepted exclusively online through the Council's website at www.corkcoco.ie from 12 noon on Monday, 16th June 2025, until 12 noon on Friday, 30th June 2025. Properties will be allocated through a lottery system among eligible applicants who submit all required documentation.

Prospective tenants must provide photographic identification, proof of address, proof of income, and proof of current rent payments where applicable. The scheme is supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage as part of the broader national housing strategy.

Full eligibility criteria, application guidance, and required documentation details are available on the Cork County Council website.
