Cork County Council Crews Manage Minor Flooding in Bantry During High Tide

Cork County Council has confirmed that crews carried out pumping operations in Bantry's town centre following water accumulation during high tide, as Cork remains under a Status Yellow rainfall warning until 15:00 today.

Council crews attended The Square in Bantry during high tide last evening and returned again this morning to monitor conditions and respond to flooding.

Minor pumping was carried out to remove water from The Square, with the council confirming the situation was managed successfully during both high tide periods.

Cork County remains under a Status Yellow rainfall warning issued by Met Éireann, which remains in effect until 15:00 this afternoon. The council is advising the public to take extra care when travelling and to stay aware of local conditions as rainfall continues.

The council's rapid response demonstrates the ongoing monitoring of vulnerable coastal areas during periods of combined high tides and rainfall warnings. Bantry has experienced flooding issues during extreme weather events in recent years, particularly when high spring tides coincide with heavy rainfall.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution when travelling through Bantry town centre and other potentially affected areas across the county while the rainfall warning remains in place.
