Over 35 free events spanning circus, dance, rap, and visual arts will transform Cork's streets, parks, and venues on 7th June as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, promising the city's biggest celebration of youth creativity.
Cork City Council is rolling out the red carpet for young creatives this Saturday with Cruinniú na nÓg Cork City 2025, a one-day festival designed to unleash the artistic potential of children and young people across the city. The ambitious programme features more than 35 free events taking place from morning until evening in venues ranging from St. Anne's Park to The Everyman Theatre.
The festival offers something for every creative taste, from traditional Irish music to contemporary hip hop, circus skills to printmaking workshops. Many events are created and led by young people themselves, reflecting the festival's commitment to youth empowerment and creative confidence.
A highlight of the day is Rock the Block, a street party running from 4PM to 8:30PM in St. Anne's Park, Shandon. The event promises an eclectic mix of traditional music, hip hop, beatboxing, open microphones, and dance workshops, culminating in a headline performance from Hazey Haze.
Theatre enthusiasts can catch Youth Theatre Island at The Everyman, featuring performances from four youth theatre groups across Ireland, followed by drama taster sessions for teenagers. Meanwhile, Fitzgerald's Park will host New Moon Youth Dance, a self-directed youth performance that promises to surprise passersby.
For those seeking high-energy activities, the Circus Factory offers a full day of circus-led workshops, shows, and a film finale, whilst Marina Park transforms into a rollerskating haven from 7PM to 9PM, complete with local DJs, demonstrations, and community skaters showing off their moves.
Additional offerings include Miniature Worlds, Art Pods, Rap-a-Mile, The Unfinished Book of Poetry, and Clay Lab, ensuring creative opportunities are scattered throughout the city centre.
The festival is presented by Cork City Council in partnership with Creative Ireland and RTÉ, with backing from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. The full programme details are available at www.corkcity.ie/en/cruinniu-na-nog/programme-at-a-glance/.
