Cork City Fire Brigade Launches '150 Club' Ahead of Landmark Anniversary

Cork City Fire Brigade is marking a major milestone with a community challenge that blends endurance, civic pride, and fundraising for a worthy cause.

As the brigade prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary next year, it is inviting firefighters and members of the public to join its newly launched 150 Club, an event within the Cork City Marathon.

Participants can take on the challenge at their own pace, whether that is the 10km walk or run, the half marathon, or the full marathon distance.

The centrepiece of the event will be Cork City firefighter Alex, known as The Running Fireman, taking on the full marathon in full fire kit, complete with breathing apparatus, either attempting to set a Guinness World Record or simply making it to the finish line.

Members of the 150 Club will receive access to a dedicated WhatsApp group offering support, spot prizes and giveaways, a special commemorative medal that will surely be a collectable, and a bespoke 150 Club T-shirt.

Every participant, whether a serving firefighter or a member of the public, will also be provided with a fundraising page in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, organised through Event Master and Cork City Marathon.

Limited charity places are available. For more information or to register, visit www.TheRunningFireman.ie.
