Cork City Council Warns of Fraudulent Parking Fine Notices

Cork City Council has issued a warning after becoming aware that fraudulent Parking Fine Notices are being circulated by email and text message.

The Council has confirmed that it issues Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) by post only. Any parking fine notification received by email or text is not genuine.

Scams of this nature typically attempt to pressure recipients into making immediate payments by including links to fraudulent websites. These messages may appear convincing, often using official-sounding language and branding to catch people off guard.

Anyone who receives a suspicious email or text claiming to be a parking fine should not click any links or provide personal or financial information. The message should be deleted immediately.

If you are unsure whether a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice is genuine, you can contact Cork City Council's parking team directly at parkingappeals@corkcity.ie for verification.

Suspected scam texts can be forwarded to 51444, the free spam reporting service operated by ComReg, while suspicious emails can be reported to the National Cyber Security Centre at phishing@ncsc.gov.ie.

Anyone who wishes to discuss a legitimate Fixed Charge Penalty Notice should contact parkingappeals@corkcity.ie and follow the instructions provided.
