Cork City Council Votes to Increase Local Property Tax Adjustment Factor to 15%
Cork City homeowners: Council members have voted to raise the Local Property Tax adjustment by 3% to 15% for three years. Social housing tenants do not pay.
Elected Members of Cork City Council tonight voted to increase the Local Adjustment Factor (LAF) of Local Property Tax in Cork City by 3% to 15%, with 20 votes in favour and seven against.
Members also voted, by 18 votes for and nine against, to set the rate at 15% for a period of three years.
Every 1% increase raises €255,339 for Cork City Council. Tuesday's vote will raise €766,000 annually.
Under the Finance (Local Property Tax and Other Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2025, a Local Authority may vote to vary the basic rate of the Local Property Tax by a maximum of plus 25% or minus 15% of the basic rate.
Social Housing tenants do not pay Local Property Tax. The cost is covered by Cork City Council.
