Cork City Council Delivers Over 400 Affordable Homes Across City
Cork City Council has delivered over 400 affordable homes across 10 schemes citywide, with more developments planned for 2026 and 2027.
Cork City Council has reached a significant milestone in addressing housing demand, delivering just over 400 affordable homes across ten schemes throughout the city, with more developments planned for the coming years.
The affordable housing schemes have been completed in estates across Cork, including Danesfort in Whites Cross, Heathfield in Ballincollig, Seaberry in Grange, and Kileens. The council announced the achievement on Monday morning, highlighting its commitment to providing high quality housing for Cork residents.
Additional developments are nearing completion, with Glenmore Heights in Lehenaghmore among the schemes in the final stages of delivery.
Looking ahead to 2026 and 2027, Cork City Council has outlined ambitious plans for further affordable housing provision. A substantial 155-house scheme in Lehenaghmore will include 88 affordable homes, with the remaining properties designated as social housing.
The council also confirmed that 48 homes are planned for Glenbride on the Old Mallow Road, with further schemes to be announced in due course.
The delivery of over 400 affordable homes represents a substantial contribution to meeting Cork's housing needs, as the city continues to experience strong demand for accessible home ownership options.
