Cork and Kerry Schools Called to 'Stand 4 Féile' with Jersey Day on 20th March

Primary and secondary schools across Cork and Kerry are being invited to swap their uniforms for their favourite jersey in support of a young West Cork woman whose life was changed forever by a farming accident last summer.

The 'Stand 4 Féile' Jersey Day takes place on Friday, 20th March, with students, teachers, staff, and the wider community encouraged to wear a jersey of any kind, whether club, county, school, or sporting team, and make a small donation towards Féile O'Sullivan's ongoing rehabilitation and care.

The initiative is organised by a voluntary group of former Cork and Kerry GAA players, and is being championed by Garnish GAA, Féile's home club in West Cork.

Féile suffered a life-changing accident on her family's farm in Allihies, West Cork, last July. Since then, she has undergone more than 65 surgeries. Despite extraordinary medical care, her legs had to be amputated, and she has endured a number of other significant procedures.

Her mother, Maureen O'Sullivan, paid tribute to those who have rallied around the family:

"Last July, Féile's life changed forever after a devastating accident on our family farm in Allihies in West Cork. Since then, she has undergone more than 65 surgeries and, despite extraordinary care from her medical team, her legs had to be amputated and she has had to endure a number of significant life changing procedures.

With the support of the GAA community, Féile has met each of these challenges with a smile, determination and a great sense of humour. Support for Féile has since spread far beyond the GAA, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has played a part in supporting Féile's recovery so far."

Garnish GAA Chairman Finbarr Harrington urged every school in the two counties to get involved:

"As Féile and her family face the next chapter of her recovery, we're inviting every school across Cork and Kerry to take part in the 'Stand 4 Féile' Jersey Day to help raise vital funds for Féile and to show her that the entire country is fully behind her."

While the initiative is primarily aimed at Cork and Kerry schools, schools, clubs, colleges, and workplaces throughout the country are welcome to participate. Schools are also encouraged to share photos of the day on social media using #Stand4Féile.

As an added incentive, all participating schools will be entered into a draw to win a brand-new set of jerseys, courtesy of O'Neills Sports. A total of eight schools will benefit, with two primary and two secondary schools selected from each county.
