Cork Airport Business Park celebrates a quarter-century of driving economic growth in the region, hosting over 60 companies including tech giants Amazon and IBM whilst contributing significantly to Cork City's prosperity.

The strategic business hub, which opened its gates in 2000, has evolved from an ambitious greenfield development into one of Ireland's most sought-after corporate destinations. Located adjacent to Cork International Airport, now recognised as Europe's fastest-growing airport, the park has become a critical economic engine for Cork City, particularly since coming under Cork City Council's remit in 2019.

Kevin Howey, Property Manager at Blackwater Asset Management Ltd, stated:

"Our mission has always been to provide a location where business can thrive, with the right infrastructure, community, and connectivity. What we've seen over the last 25 years is the proof that this approach works."

The park's impressive tenant roster includes multinational corporations such as Analog Devices International, Avery, Amazon, IBM, Bank of New York Mellon, and McKesson, alongside successful indigenous Irish companies. This diverse mix has helped position Cork as a viable alternative to Dublin for corporate headquarters.

The location offers significant advantages for businesses with global ambitions. With Cork City just minutes away and excellent transport links via the Lower Harbour, Ringaskiddy, and the Jack Lynch Tunnel, companies benefit from both international connectivity and access to a highly educated workforce from nearby University College Cork and Munster Technological University.

Kevin O'Donovan, Managing Director of Statkraft Ireland and UK, reflected on their presence at the park:

"Cork Airport Business Park has been a strategic base for Statkraft's growth in Ireland. Our decision to expand into larger offices here in 2023 reflects our long-term commitment to the region and the value we place on the park's connectivity, infrastructure, and vibrant business community."

Infrastructure investment has been central to the park's success. High-speed fibre-optic connectivity, 24-hour monitored security, flexible meeting facilities, and on-site amenities including hotels and restaurants have created a comprehensive business ecosystem. The park has also embraced sustainability initiatives, installing rainwater harvesting systems, LED lighting, electric car charging points, and biodiversity-friendly landscaping.

Captain Mark Casey, Founder and CEO of Atlantic Flight Training Academy, a long-term tenant, noted:

"Over the years, AFTA's presence at Cork Airport Business Park has been largely driven by practical considerations: proximity to the airport, access to aviation talent, and suitable infrastructure."

The park's evolution mirrors Cork's transformation into a thriving tech and innovation hub. It has played a pivotal role in anchoring multinational investment in the region, diversifying the local job market, and supporting the city's economic development over the past 25 years.

Looking ahead, the business park is well-positioned for continued growth. With expansion opportunities on the horizon and growing demand from high-growth sectors, it remains firmly focused on maintaining its position as a cornerstone of Cork's business infrastructure and Ireland's southern innovation corridor.

The anniversary celebration comes at a time when Cork continues to assert itself as a serious player in Ireland's economic landscape, offering businesses a compelling alternative to the capital with all the connectivity and talent they need to succeed on the global stage.
