Coriander Recall Update: SuperValu Extends Alert to All Batch Codes

SuperValu recalls ALL batches of potted coriander. M&S and Lidl codes clarified in expanded Listeria alert.

Coriander Recall Update: SuperValu Extends Alert to All Batch Codes

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued updated guidance on yesterday's major coriander recall, with SuperValu now recalling all batch codes of its Irish Coriander Potted product and clearer identification codes provided for products at Marks & Spencer and Lidl stores across Cork and Ireland.

The update, issued this morning, provides corrected product traceability details for the O'Hanlon Herbs potted coriander products being recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The most significant change affects SuperValu customers, where the recall has been expanded from specific batches to include all batch codes of their Growing Coriander product.

Marks & Spencer has clarified that affected M&S Irish Coriander Potted products carry the codes 1J0608C1 and 1J0908C1, whilst Lidl's O'Hanlon Herbs Coriander Potted products are identified by codes L3104, L3105, L3106, L3107, and L3201.

The display dates for affected products remain unchanged from yesterday's alert, ranging from 3 August to 11 August 2025, depending on the retailer. Aldi's Egan's Irish Coriander Potted products with display dates from 5 to 11 August remain affected, as do Tesco's Irish Coriander Potted products dated 3 to 9 August.

Dunnes Stores continues to recall both O'Hanlon Herbs Irish Coriander Potted and Compostable Potted Coriander with display dates between 3 and 10 August. Products at Nolans and Mortons with a 7 August display date also remain part of the recall.

The health risks remain unchanged from yesterday's warning. Listeria infection can cause mild flu-like symptoms or gastrointestinal issues in healthy individuals but poses serious risks to pregnant women, babies, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Retailers continue to remove affected products from shelves and display recall notices at point-of-sale. Consumers who have purchased any of these products, particularly those from SuperValu with any batch code, should not consume them and should dispose of them immediately.

The FSAI emphasises that the incubation period for Listeria can range from three to 70 days, making it essential for anyone who has consumed affected products to monitor their health and seek medical advice if symptoms develop.

This update highlights the evolving nature of food safety recalls, and Cork shoppers are advised to check any recently purchased potted coriander against the updated information, especially if bought from SuperValu where the recall now covers all batches.
