Comedy Legends Take to the Stage for Cork Stroke Support
Jokes for Stroke, presented by Cork Stroke Support and Astra Construction Ltd will take place on Thursday, 13 March at the Everyman Theatre.

Cork Stroke Support is proud to announce the return of their annual comedy show. Following sell out shows in 2023 and 2024, Chris Kent is bringing comedy legends together again for a night of laughter to raise funds and awareness for Cork Stroke Support on Thursday 13th of March at Cork’s Everyman Theatre.
In addition to the hilarious, story-telling and observational humour of Chris Kent, audience members will get to enjoy a phenomenal comedy line up including Cork’s comedy queen, Laura O’Mahony, Bernard Casey, Alison Spittle, Mike Morgan, Richie Bree and Lesly Martinez. Most of the headline comedians sell-out solo shows, so this event provides a unique opportunity to see these great acts in the one location. In addition to taking to the stage for Cork Stroke Support, the comedians are also waiving their fees, maximising the funds to support the work of this crucial stroke support service. The production crew on the evening will also be waiving their fees.
Speaking about the event, comedian Chris Kent said:
“This is the third year that we have brought comedians to the Everyman stage for this important cause. The work of Cork Stroke Support provides life-enhancing supports for people living with the impact of a stroke.
Every one of the comedians in this show is taking to the stage to support Cork Stroke Support. This sound bunch are going to create a hilarious show that you do not want to miss. I’m proud to be part of this group and I know the audience will love it.”
Chairperson of Cork Stroke Support Dan Cronin said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting this event again, it has been such a success in raising funds and awareness for our service. We are so grateful to Chris Kent, and all the comedians who are supporting this event. This event, now in its third year, is a celebration, a chance to let go and escape, while also supporting an important cause. It truly takes a village to bring this event together. It would not be possible without the generous support of Astra Construction Ltd. Sponsoring this event is just one of the many ways that Astra’s founder and MD, Stephen McCarthy has generously supported our work since we opened in 2021.
In addition to our title sponsor, we are grateful for the support of Noel Noonan Fabrication (NNF), David Crowley Design, EMH Technical Services Ltd, St. Michaels Credit Union, Mackin Group and Scally’s Supervalu, Blackrock who all help make this idea a reality.
The local companies that support us mean we can reach more people across the region, the numbers of people availing of our services is increasing steadily with some people travelling from Wexford, Waterford and Kerry to attend sessions. We are very much reliant on fundraising and donations to reach those who need us.
Life after stroke is a journey, both for the survivor and their family. At Cork Stroke Support we recognise that the journey is multi-faceted, and has its ups and downs. Our service provides practical support, while also creating a community. There is also space for fun in our approach, making this event an ideal way to support our service and reminds us that it is important to find moments for laughter.”
