Coast Guard Training Exercise Underway in Crosshaven Area
Increased Irish Coast Guard activity around the Crosshaven, Carrigaline and Currabinny areas is not a cause for concern.
Crosshaven Coast Guard is conducting a search skills training course this afternoon across several harbour locations, with increased activity expected to continue until 21:00.
The training session, which began at 13:30, involves new members from neighbouring coast guard stations learning essential search techniques around Crosshaven, Carrigaline and Currabinny. The exercise is part of ongoing professional development for volunteer coast guard personnel.
Crosshaven Coast Guard stated:
"There will be increased Irish Coast Guard activity around the Crosshaven, Carrigaline and Currabinny areas today from 13.30 to 21.00 as we host a search skills course for new members from our flanking stations."
The unit emphasised that despite the training activity, they remain fully operational and ready to respond to genuine emergencies. Members of the public who witness someone in difficulty, or who suspect someone may be in trouble, should immediately dial 112 or 999 and request the Irish Coast Guard.
The training provides an important opportunity for new volunteers to develop critical search and rescue skills under the supervision of experienced personnel, ensuring the continued high standard of emergency response across Cork Harbour.
