Ireland has switched back to standard time as clocks moved back one hour at 2am this morning. The change means darker evenings ahead as winter approaches.

At 2am on Sunday, 26 October 2025, clocks across Ireland turned back one hour to 1am, officially ending daylight saving time for 2025. While most people enjoyed an extra hour in bed, the change marks the beginning of darker evenings.

Most smartphones, computers and digital devices have updated automatically. However, manual clocks, car dashboards, cookers and other household appliances will need adjusting by hand if you haven't already done so.

The move back to standard time means both sunrise and sunset will appear an hour earlier on the clock from today. In Cork, sunrise will occur at around 7:17am and sunset at approximately 5:18pm this evening. Daylight hours will continue to shorten over the coming weeks, reaching their minimum at the winter solstice in late December.

Ireland will remain on standard time until Sunday, 30 March 2026, when clocks spring forward again for summer.
