Chicken Products Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns

Several batches of Templetuohy Farm Fresh Foods chicken products are being recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers are urged to check their freezers, as the affected products, though past their use by date, were suitable for home freezing.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued the Category 1 recall notice today for products with a use by date of 6 October 2025. While these items have expired, the FSAI warns they may still be in home freezers across the country.

The recall affects four Templetuohy Farm Fresh Foods products: Chicken Fillets (460g), Chicken Pascal (460g), Fresh Chicken Fillets 10/Tray (1,100g), and Garlic Chicken En-Croute (400g). All affected items carry approval number IE 2892 EC.

Salmonella infection typically develops within 12 to 36 hours of exposure, though symptoms can appear anywhere between six and 72 hours. The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which may occasionally be bloody. Infected individuals may also experience fever, headache and abdominal cramps.

The illness usually resolves within four to seven days, but can be more severe in elderly people, infants and those with weakened immune systems. In some cases, diarrhoea may be severe enough to require hospital admission.

The FSAI advises consumers not to eat the recalled products. Retailers have been instructed to remove the affected batches from sale and display recall notices at point of sale.

Shoppers who discover the implicated products in their freezers should dispose of them and not consume them. Anyone who has eaten the affected chicken and feels unwell should contact their GP.

Full details of the recall are available on the FSAI website.
