CCPC warns of a chemical risk in certain Amazon balloons. Stop using them, discard them and keep them from children.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued a product safety notice about certain balloons sold through Amazon. The notice was published on 7 October 2026.
The balloons contain excessive levels of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances, which pose a chemical risk. Children may be exposed through skin contact or by mouthing the balloons, which can harm their health.
Three products are affected, each identified by its Amazon ASIN:
- ASIN B0CY86DYX9 is â100 Pieces of Multicolored 10 Inch Latex Balloons Blue, Pink, Whiteâ. One unit was sold in the Republic of Ireland.
- ASIN B0DP5ZTN3X is âMulticolor Balloons, 84 Rainbow Garland Balloonsâ, brand UDRKFOPK. Four units were sold in the Republic.
- ASIN B0F4CV544D is âPastel Balloons, 100 Pcs 10-Inch Latex Helium Balloonsâ, brand UDRKFOPK. Seven units were sold in the Republic.
That is 12 units in total.
If you bought any of these products, stop using them immediately, discard them and keep them out of the reach of children. You may also wish to contact Amazon through your user account to see whether any remedy is available.
