Bweeng 5K Road Race Set to Draw Huge Crowd to North Cork Village on Sunday

The village of Bweeng is preparing to welcome a huge crowd this Sunday for its 5k road race, with several months of planning behind the scenes coming together for what organisers describe as a huge logistical undertaking.

Race HQ for the event is Bweeng Community Centre, with the start line situated on the Gloundine Road. The route passes the Community Centre before turning left at Bweeng Crossroads in the direction of Lombardstown.

Approximately 2km out, runners will turn and head back through the crossroads, finishing a few hundred metres before the church.

Some local disruption is possible in and around the village between 10.30am and 12.30pm while the race is on. Approach roads from Donoughmore, Nadd, Lombardstown, Laharn Cross, Gortroe, Glantane, Dromahane and Grenagh may also be affected during this window.

Organisers are asking residents in surrounding communities to spread the word among neighbours and, if possible, to avoid car use in the area while the race is taking place.
