Bus Transfers Replace Rail Services Across Cork for Remainder of Easter Sunday

Passengers travelling by rail to and from Cork today, Easter Sunday 5 April, are reminded that engineering works between Mallow and Cobh mean bus transfers are in place across all Cork rail routes for the remainder of the day.

All Dublin Heuston to Cork intercity services are operating to Mallow only, with bus transfers from Mallow to Cork. Afternoon and evening departures from Heuston at 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, and 21:00 are all affected.

In the return direction, Cork to Heuston services are replaced between Cork and Mallow, with buses departing Cork ahead of the scheduled train time in most cases. Remaining departures include the 13:25, 14:25, 15:25, 16:25, 17:25, 18:25, and 19:25 services.

Cork to Mallow commuter services at 12:50 and 20:45 are also replaced by bus, with return Mallow to Cork services at 13:25 and 21:18 similarly substituted.

Two Cork to Tralee services remain affected this afternoon and evening. The 14:50 departure is replaced by bus from Cork to Mallow at 14:00, connecting with a train departing Mallow at 15:30. The 18:50 departure is replaced by bus from Cork to Mallow at 18:50, connecting with a train departing Mallow at 19:35.

In the return direction, the 17:10 and 19:15 Tralee to Cork services are operating to Mallow only.

The works are part of the Cork Area Commuter Rail programme, which includes twin-tracking of the Midleton line and signalling upgrades that will treble the capacity for Cork commuter rail services once complete.

Iarnród Éireann is advising passengers to check the Journey Planner at irishrail.ie before travelling. Bus transfers are operated by third-party companies and may not have toilet facilities on board.
