Burst Water Main Disrupts Water Supply on Model Farm Road
Burst water main on Model Farm Road: tanker supply at Hilton Estate from 6pm, boil water before use. Repairs expected by 4pm tomorrow, 24 October.
Customers and businesses on Model Farm Road and in surrounding areas may experience disruptions to their water supply today, following a burst water main earlier this morning. An alternative water supply will be available from 6pm this evening at the Hilton Estate.
Uisce Éireann crews are on site and working closely with ESB to complete the repair. The work is complex because of the water main’s proximity to a nearby utility pole, and every effort is being made to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.
Customers using the alternative supply are reminded to bring their own containers when taking water from tankers. They are also advised to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Michael Bell of Uisce Éireann said:
“We understand how inconvenient an unexpected water outage can be. Our main priority is fixing this burst safely and returning a normal supply to all our customers.”
He added:
“We have reconfigured parts of the water network to restore water supply to most areas but some households are still without water. Repair works are continuing and are expected to be completed by 4pm tomorrow, 24 October.
Once repairs have been completed, water supplies will return gradually over the following hours. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the water network refills.”
Traffic management measures will be in place while repairs are underway and will be clearly signposted. Uisce Éireann has thanked local residents and road users for their cooperation.
Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
