Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in her early 30s at a residence in Ballincollig, Cork City, this evening.

Emergency services responded to the scene this evening, Friday 13th March 2026. Nobody else was present in the house at the time the woman's body was discovered.

Her remains are expected to be conveyed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital this evening, ahead of a post-mortem examination tomorrow, Saturday 14th March 2026. The results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.

The scene has been sealed off and will be subject to technical examination by Scenes of Crime Cork City. The coroner has been notified.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Innishmore area of Ballincollig between 3:00pm on Thursday 12th March and 5:30pm this evening, Friday 13th March 2026.

Anyone with camera footage, including home security and dash-cam footage, from that area during that period is asked to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
