Board Of Works Road Closing At Garda Request As Three Projects Overlap At Ballinrea
Board of Works Road is being closed at Garda request, and the Solar Farm closure on Ballinrea Road, Carrigaline is extended to the 19th, Cllr Jack White says.
Residents along the Ballinrea Road in Carrigaline are dealing with three separate projects running at once, involving three separate contractors and both Cork County Council and Cork City Council. Cllr Jack White has set out where each of the projects currently stands, including a new closure and a five-day extension to another.
Cllr White said the Board of Works Road is being closed off today under a request from An Garda Síochána to the City Council. He said this is due to accidents being caused from people turning right onto Carr's Hill, and noted that the road was due to be closed on the 17th in any case for the motorway works.
Separately, the Solar Farm works will have a road closure in place on the Ballinrea Road until the 19th. Cllr White attributed this to a large amount of rock being hit, and said it represents an extension of five days from the original date of the 15th.
The third project, the Ballinrea Cross junction upgrade, is on schedule. Cllr White said those works are to be completed the week of the 24th, as planned.
Cllr Jack White:
"I want to acknowledge that this is an exceptionally challenging period for people living on the Ballinrea Road, Carrigaline."
Motorists using the Ballinrea Road and the surrounding area should expect continued disruption while the three projects are under way. Cllr White's update was published in full on Facebook.
