Barnardos Big Toddle Returns: Ireland's Littlest Heroes Take Steps for Vulnerable Children
Barnardos children's charity has officially launched its 22nd annual Big Toddle campaign, inviting Ireland's youngest fundraisers to participate in a sponsored half-mile walk that makes a significant difference to vulnerable children across the country. This year's theme, "Big Toddle Little Heroes," celebrates the enormous impact made by some of the smallest feet in Ireland. The campaign has already seen tremendous support in Cork, with 1,340 children registered to participate. Louise Duffy, returning as this year's campaign ambassador, expressed her enthusiasm:
"I'm delighted to team up with Barnardos again this year to support the Big Toddle. We've moved from toddling to sprinting in our house in the last year, but this amazing campaign encourages pre-school aged children to get on board for a half-mile walk, and most importantly to begin helping others. I'm in awe of the work Barnardos does, changing childhoods and changing lives."
Since its inception, the Big Toddle has raised an impressive €4.84 million for Barnardos' Early Years services, providing vital support to the most vulnerable children throughout Ireland. Mary Gamble, Barnardos Director of Fundraising, highlighted the special nature of the initiative:
"We're incredibly proud of all the toddlers who participate in our Big Toddle, these amazing young children are helping ensure that some of the youngest and most vulnerable children in Ireland receive the best possible start in life. It's children helping children and that's very special."
Creches, families, parents and childminders are encouraged to register and host their own Big Toddle during May or June by visiting www.barnardos.ie/bigtoddle. Barnardos' mission is to deliver services and work with families, communities, and partners to transform the lives of vulnerable children affected by adverse childhood experiences, based on their belief that childhood lasts a lifetime.
