Baltimore Turns Pink As Women On Water Draws Record Crowds For Cancer Research
Baltimore turned pink as record numbers joined Women on Water, raising funds for Breakthrough Cancer Research.
Baltimore Harbour turned pink on Thursday, 13 August, as a record number of women from across Cork and beyond took part in Women on Water (WOW), raising tens of thousands of euro for Breakthrough Cancer Research.
The event drew three times as many participants as the previous Women on Water event two years ago, making it the biggest WOW to date and underlining the strength of support for the fundraiser and its cancer research mission.
The day began with an organised sea swim, with participants embracing the pink theme and prizes awarded for the best-dressed swimmers. Hundreds of women then took to Baltimore Harbour and the surrounding waters in sailboats, yachts, powerboats and kayaks for a sea treasure hunt, followed by an afternoon of fun, friendship and adventure.
Prizes and raffle winners were presented later in the day, before an evening performance by Collage in Baltimore Square rounded off a memorable night of dancing and celebration.
