Ballincollig Main Street to Host Free ‘Open Streets’ Event
Ballincollig Main Street goes traffic-free for a free family event on Sun 21 Sept, 2–4pm. Music, games & fun for all!

Ballincollig’s Main Street will come alive with activity later this month as the town hosts a special Open Streets Event celebrating community, culture, and sustainability.
The free family-friendly event takes place on Sunday, 21 September 2025, from 2pm to 4pm, with Main Street transforming into a traffic-free zone. Visitors can look forward to an afternoon filled with music, street games, sports demonstrations, and a variety of fun activities for all ages.
Organisers say the aim is to encourage people to enjoy public spaces in new ways while bringing the community together. The event is hosted by the Ballincollig Business Association in association with the Ballincollig Sustainable Transport Group, and run in conjunction with Cork City Council.
Ballincollig Business Association:
“This is about opening up Main Street for people, showcasing local culture, and offering something enjoyable for families to experience together.”
The Open Streets programme has been rolled out in a number of towns and cities across Ireland, promoting more sustainable use of urban spaces while encouraging healthier lifestyles and stronger community connections.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and organisers are inviting families, friends, and neighbours to come along and join the fun.
