AXA Launches Search for Cork's Community Heroes with €80,000 Charity Prize Fund

AXA Ireland is calling on people across Cork to nominate someone who goes out of their way to help others, with four winners set to receive €20,000 each to donate to their chosen charity.

The AXA Community Hero Awards recognise individuals making a meaningful difference in their neighbourhoods. Nominations are now open across four categories: Road Safety, Mental Health, Women's Safety and Wellbeing, and Sustainability.

Previous winners have included Cork Cancer Connect, demonstrating the awards' track record of supporting local causes close to home.

Elizabeth Arnett, Chief Communications, Brand and Sustainability Officer at AXA Ireland:

"The AXA Community Hero Awards are designed to empower people that are actively working to deliver positive change in their localities. So many of us know someone who always goes the extra mile to help shape a better future for everyone in their community. AXA want to show them how much their efforts mean and give a real boost to causes close to their hearts."

Mick Comerford, Direct Retail Director at AXA Ireland:

"The Community Hero Awards are a chance for us to give back to local areas, which is so important because we're part of a wonderful community here. One of the best parts of our branch network is getting to know the people right at the heart of those vibrant communities and we're looking forward to the chance to highlight the amazing work happening across Ireland."

To nominate someone, simply explain in 150 words or less how they have positively impacted their community under one of the four categories. Nominations can be submitted online at www.axa.ie, or staff at AXA's branch at 52 South Mall in Cork city are happy to help with any questions.

Nominations close at 4pm on Monday 5 January 2026, with winners to be announced later that month.
