Arrest Made in Cork City Fatal Assault Investigation

A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the fatal assault in Cork city centre on Monday evening. Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí have made an arrest in connection with the fatal assault that occurred in Cork City Centre on Monday evening.

The incident took place on Lower John Street, Knapp's Square and Devonshire Street on the evening of Monday, 16 March 2026.

A man in his 40s was arrested this morning, Wednesday, 18 March, in connection with the investigation.

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Cork City.

Investigations are ongoing.
