Amazon Launches Amazon.ie: New Local Prime Membership, Fast Deliveries, and Boost for Irish Businesses

Amazon has officially opened its virtual doors in Ireland with the launch of Amazon.ie, offering Irish customers access to over 200 million products priced in Euros, alongside convenient, fast delivery and returns.

Customers will benefit from One-Day Delivery on millions of items, clear local pricing, and no additional customs charges. In partnership with Enterprise Ireland, Amazon.ie will soon feature a dedicated "Brands of Ireland" page to highlight popular Irish brands such as Barry's Tea, Bewley’s, and Swifter, boosting local businesses and making shopping for Irish products easier than ever.

Amazon has introduced a local Prime membership specifically for Ireland, priced at just €6.99 monthly or €69.90 annually. Prime members can enjoy exclusive deals, free One-Day Delivery, Prime Video content including live sports and Amazon Originals, Prime Gaming benefits, unlimited photo storage through Amazon Photos, and exclusive discounts with partners like Odeon cinemas and Deliveroo.

Alison Dunn, Ireland country manager at Amazon, expressed excitement about the launch:

The store brings a wide selection of great value products with fast delivery to customers in Ireland, a local Prime membership with incredible benefits and savings, and lots of opportunities for Irish businesses to reach more customers. We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our fulfilment centre in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland."

Welcoming the announcement, Taoiseach Micheál Martin emphasised the positive impact on consumers and businesses:

"This expansion by Amazon will give consumers more choice and better value, as well as help small, medium, and large businesses across the country promote their own Irish and international products. By using Amazon, people know that they will get a well-trusted, great service. It’s good news for all."

Peter Burke, Ireland’s Minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment, also praised the launch as a strong sign of Amazon’s ongoing commitment to Ireland.

Committed to sustainability, Amazon.ie will exclusively use recyclable packaging materials, such as paper bags and cardboard envelopes, significantly reducing plastic waste. Amazon has already reduced outbound packaging per shipment by over 43% since 2015.

Irish customers can now visit Amazon.ie via desktop or mobile browsers and the Amazon mobile app, with free delivery on their first order fulfilled by Amazon, regardless of Prime membership status. New members can also enjoy a 30-day free Prime trial.
