ADHD Ireland has unveiled Action Hub, a six-week peer-led programme designed to support adults with ADHD in managing their time and achieving personal goals, from decluttering homes to completing college assignments.

The programme, which launched today, consists of weekly Zoom sessions with ten participants each, moderated by a host. Over an initial eight-month period, up to 400 people with ADHD from across Ireland are expected to benefit from the initiative, which has been made possible through funding from Rethink Ireland.

ADHD affects approximately 5% of the population and is a neurodevelopmental difference that leads to challenges in organisation, focus and self-regulation. Action Hub aims to provide a safe space where participants can discuss their struggles with reaching goals whilst receiving feedback, accountability and support from peers who share similar experiences.

Martin Finn, Service Development Manager for ADHD Ireland Cork and creator of Action Hub, said:

"People with ADHD have huge energy, enthusiasm, and creative ideas, but too often it all goes to waste because they have no framework or structure to organise themselves. Action Hubs allow them to create a manageable timeframe and steps to achieving their goal with the support of a small group of peers. I have ADHD myself and I know that I would have really benefited from this programme in the past."

The programme helps participants tackle any goal, whether that's decluttering their home, writing a college assignment or even filling in a form. The structured approach provides a framework for breaking down tasks into manageable steps over a realistic timeframe.

Early participants have already reported positive results. Carolin Chucholowski said:

"The Action Hub has been incredibly helpful. Having a group that truly understands the ADHD struggle and keeps each other gently accountable has helped me stay motivated, organised, keep track of time, and actually finish the things I started."

James Morrissey Jr added:

"Before starting this course, I struggled with maintaining consistency in tasks, which affected my confidence. This course has introduced a framework which has allowed me to achieve several small tactical goals, which have compounded over time, so that I could achieve larger strategic goals."
